The REO pointed out that in Matarkai, rain, resulting in a number of pools of water in areas, has been preventing mining from taking place. Farmlands have been slightly affected as well. However, other areas have not been experiencing such a problem.

Flood Situation Expected Under Control Within A Week |

Concomitantly, the floodwaters on the East Coast of Demerara dropped
by a foot. However, operator error at the sluice gate in Triumph
caused saltwater to flow into the Beterverwagting/Triumph area but the damage was minimal. The two attendants who left the gate open were fired and replaced by four citizen volunteers until the attendants are replaced.

Prime Minister Hinds Dismisses Discrimination Charges |

Some sections of the society have also made claims of discrimination. However, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds said that these accusations have no substance.
He said that he understands the concerns of those persons who
have not received aid but he is unhappy with those persons
who peddle these claims for political reasons.
